Turbine Aerofoils

The Turbine Aerofoils section specialises in the machining of turbine nozzle guide vanes and rotor blades for aero and land based gas turbine engines. Using innovative techniques for grinding, electro-discharge machining, laser welding, vapour phase aluminising, vacuum heat treatment and electronic gauging.

Current dimensional inspection facilities include multi-probe gauging with SPC facilities and co-ordinate measuring machines.

Examples of Centrax’s policy of in-house machine tool development are found in the radial grinding line which includes Centrax designed and built machines as well as highly modified standard machines, to reduce cycle times and maximise accuracy and reliability.
